Each particle system has to behave in the manner specified by one of a number of pre-defined 'models' which determine the 'pattern' to display the system with as well as some generic behavioural characteristics. In Red Alert 2, you can only use Spark, Fire, Smoke, Gas or Railgun. Although these still offer great scope for creating or editing particle systems, you are restricted to these types as it would be far too complex to allow further customization through the INI files as particle system calculations are incredibly elaborate.
