This flag specifies the main weapon of this object. The main weapon is used when force-firing on the ground and scanning the area for targets. If the Verses on both Primary= and Secondary= allow targeting of a certain object, the Primary= will be selected.

RA2/YR introduce other methods for specifying weapons for special cases like the IFV/Prism Tank/Gattling Weapons.
