"The Backup" was a great catastrophe brought upon the DeeZire.net community by DeeZire. After some technical problems with the host, DeeZire decided to use a two months old backup to recover it¹, wiping out not only several dozen important threads, among them things like news about the perfect normals discovery, but also the concluding posts of many threads that had already existed before the backup was taken, rendering them, too, effectivly useless.

Even today, almost two years after the disaster, the aftermath of this decision is still sensible. Again and again, modders are sure they posted or read a certain thing years ago, but, alas, it fell into The Lost Time and cannot be retrieved.

The Backup most certainly was the greatest non-personal tragedy the DeeZire community ever suffered.

¹Backup from March 9 used on May 10.
